Homelessness support

If you or someone you know is currently homeless and looking for a fresh start then help may be available at Emmaus Mossley. Learn more about joining our community and the support we can offer.

At Emmaus Mossley, we provide opportunities to people who are homeless and socially disadvantaged.

We don’t just offer a bed for the night, we offer a home for as long as someone needs it, as well as support, training and meaningful work in our social enterprise. We give people an opportunity to regain control of their lives by living and working alongside others in a supportive communal environment.

The Emmaus Mossley community building is situated at Longlands Mill in Tameside. Each of our companions has their own en-suite bedroom and access to a range of communal facilities including a kitchen, dining room, lounge, garden and gym.

The opportunity to become part of a community and make a contribution to it, plays an important role in restoring self-esteem and helping people to find a way to overcome homelessness in the long term.

Help for people who are homeless

Emmaus Mossley provides help to people of all backgrounds, beliefs and gender who are experiencing homelessness. We offer a home, work in a social enterprise and an opportunity to gain skills, confidence and training.

To join our community individuals have to commit to working full-time in our social enterprise but the rewards for doing so are great. We provide education, training and personal development to help people on their journey towards a better future.

How to join

We accept enquiries directly from people who need homeless support but more often we receive referrals from local organisations, charities and partners. Our success depends on maintaining a stable community so every application is carefully considered and risks assessed. We need to be sure that there is a good match between the individual and the community. We also try to make sure we meet the greatest need first.

Emmaus Mossley is fully committed to equal opportunities and will not discriminate on the grounds of gender, marital status, age, race, skin colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, political opinion, disability or sexual orientation.

If you want to know more or would like to join us please contact the Community team, on 01457 838608 or email info@emmausmossley.org.uk
